How to reach Serlachius by car? The Art Town Mänttä is located nicely in between the two bigger cities, Jyväskylä and Tampere, so it is easy to include Serlachius for example in a Lakeland round trip. Mänttä-Vilppula is on National Route 58 between Orivesi and Keuruu. The travel time from Tampere to Mänttä is 1 hour 15 minutes and from Jyväskylä to Mänttä 1 hour and 10 minutes. To drive from Helsinki to Mänttä takes 3 hours and from Turku, Vaasa and Kuopio 2 hours and 50 minutes.

Serlachius Headquarters is located in the centre of Mänttä, close to the church and the paper mill. You find Serlachius Manor 2.5 km from Mänttä centre towards Vilppula .

ARRIVING BY ELECTRIC CARS

The parking areas of both Serlachius Manor and Headquarters have charging points for electric cars that can be used to charge renewable, emission-free electricity.

The charging station at Serlachius Manor has now eight paid charging points. Payment takes place either using card with contactless payment or online at: lataus.leppakoski.fi. You may also check the price for charging on their website. 

There are four Rapid charging points (DC) of which three have CCS connectors and one a CHAdeMo connector. Price of charging is 20 ct/min + starting fee 30 ct. Max charging power is 60 kW/charging point which is halved when two cars are charged simultaneously.

Also available are four basic charging stations (AC) with Type 2 connectors. Charging requires customers’ own cable. Price of charging is 25 ct/kWh + starting fee 30 ct. The power is 22 kW.

Serlachius Headquarters’s charging station has two 22 kW charging points with Type 2 connectors. The charging point is located in the parking area facing the factory. Price of charging is 25 ct/kWh + starting fee 30 ct.

NOTE!
If charging does not start, you may try following options:

• pay using a card via smart device (Apple Pay or Google Pay)
• pay for the charging at the web site of the service provider (Leppäkosken Energia) lataus.leppakoski.fi

RENT AN ELECTRIC CAR

BY TRAIN

From Tampere, a regional train leaves every day 12.06 pm and stops at Vilppula railway station at 13.06 pm.
From Vilppula, a regional train leaves every day to Tampere at 18.52 pm.
Check the timetables at VR.
The distance from the Vilppula railway station to Serlachius Manor is about 5 kilometres and to Serlachius Headquarters about 7 kilometres.

BY BUS

Check the bus timetables at Matkahuolto
The distance from Mänttä bus station to Serlachius Headquarters is about half a kilometre and to Serlachius Manor about two kilometres.

BIKE & RAIL CITY BIKES

Art Town Mänttä-Vilppula and Serlachius organise a city bike service between Vilppula railway station and Mänttä town centre summer 2024. Bikes will be available for renting until end of August. Service provider of Donkey Republic City Bikes is KaaKau Oy. 

Bike & Rail provides a possibility to make sustainable and experiential day trip in the Art Town. You may hop on a train in Tampere and book a bike for yourself in advance using Donkey Republic App. A bike is available for you at Vilppula railway station or at Serlachius Headquarters.

TRAIN & TAXI ON TUESDAYS (€ 35)

Welcome to Serlachius and Art Sauna on Tuesdays using public transportation! The product includes a shared taxi ride from and to Vilppula railway station, entrance to all our exhibitions and a ticket to the public day at Art Sauna. Please note that the product does not include VR train tickets. Purchase them at VR.fi web shop.

THE PRODUCT CONTAINS: 
Shared taxi rides according to the following schedule:

• at 13:06 railcar 423 arrives in Vilppula > taxi transfer to Serlachius Manor (approx. 5 km)
• at 18:30 return ride Serlachius Manor > Vilppula railway station
• at 18:52 railcar 428 departs from Vilppula (arrival time in Tampere 19:55)

Product must be purchased by noon 12:00 the previous day. The product is available for purchase for Tuesdays. We will open the product for sale as VR confirms the train timetables (2-3 months in advance). See more information and purchase at our web shop.

TRAIN & TAXI ON SATURDAYS (€ 30)

Welcome to Serlachius on Saturdays using public transportation! The product includes entrance ticket to all exhibitions, a shared taxi ride from and to Vilppula railway station and a transfer between the two Serlachius museums. 

THE PRODUCT CONTAINS: 
Shared taxi rides according to the following schedule: 

• at 13:06 railbus 423 arrives in Vilppula > Serlachius Headquarters (ca. 7 km) 
• at 3 pm transfer from Serlachius Headquarters to Serlachius Manor (ca. 3 km)
• at 18:30 Serlachius Manor > Vilppula railway station 
• at 18:52 railbus 428 departs from Vilppula 

Entrance to all Serlachius exhibitions.

CYCLING YOUR WAY

From Serlachius you can loan a Jopo bicycle for your visit! The bicycles are available at both museums. Loaning the bicycles is for free. You just need to fill in a form at the ticket counter and prove your identity. The bicycles are a fun and sustainable way to move the approximately three kilometer distance between the two museum buildings or visit other attractions in the Art Town Mänttä. Loaning the bicycles is possible only during the museums’ opening hours.

With your own bicycle you can also enjoy the beautiful Lakeland sceneries while cycling towards the Art Town Mänttä and Serlachius! There are many good trails with interesting places to stop by and places to include in your itinerary, starting from Tampere.
