Guided tour to Gösta

During the guided tours we get aquainted with the highlights of the Art Museum Gösta both at the manor as well as at the pavilion. The old manor shows us over 100 masterpieces of the Golden Age of Finnish art from the Gösta Serlachius Fine Arts Foundation’s collections, which is one of most significant private collection in Scandinavia. We also get acquainted with the top contemporary art at the exhibitions of Gösta’s pavilion. We achieve more information on the construction of the pavilion, its architecture, the phases of the old Joenniemi manor and the colorful life of the Serlachius family, pioneers of Finnish paper industry.

Guided tour to Gustaf

During a guided tour, the former head office of a paper combine, which once was one of Finland’s greatest, and its exhibitions become familiar. You will hear about the early days of Finnish paper industry and meet the Paper Devil himself. Also the stories around the life in the realm of the Serlachiuses as well as architecture and the history the magnificent museum building complement the tour. On the tour, we take a look at all the exhibitions of the museum.

Scenes from the industrialist’s life

A guided tour including performed scenes of professional actors takes viewers to the life of Gösta Serlachius at the old manor house. Dramatised scenes telling about the industrialist sequence the guided tour to the exhibition. The roles are played by actors Tommi Raitolehto and Karoliina Blackburn. Karoliina Blackburn is the playwright, director as well as featuring in the acting role.

Working for the company!

Guided drama tour introduces you the secrets of working life of the old days. Are there any suitable persons in you group to be employed by the company? It is the year 1951. You are one in a group of hopeful new workers applying for a job at the paper mill. Most self-respecting secretaries work at the head office of the paper combine, and one of them will have you know the house manners: “Surely you didn´t come in to apply for a job through the main door, did you, Sir?”

During the guided drama tour you will be acquainted with the company’s history, life in the realm of the Serlachiuses and the exhibitions at the museum. In the end a test in the paper workshop reveals, how paper making works out in practice. Laughter guaranteed.

WORKSHOPS

Acrylic Painting

In this workshop you will dive into the world of art with the guidance of an educated visual artist. The first lesson will familiarize you with the materials used in painting and you will begin your own work. On the second lesson you will get inspiration from the museum’s exhibitions and combine the newly learned aspects of painting and the ideas rising from the seen artworks. The last lesson will make you ponder the things you wanted to include in your own work, which colors indulged you and how did the whole process of painting feel like. Your artwork is now finished and you can share your experience with others!

Sculpture Modeling

How do you look at a sculpture? How do you mold one? With the guidance of a professional artist you will take a tour at the Art Museum Gösta’s exhibitions and Sculpture Park. You will become familiar with different shapes, material and technic used in the process of sculpture modeling. After the inspirational tour you will start working on your own sculpture with the help of an educated and encouraging artist. Real sculptor’s equipment and plaster are used in the modeling. After you have finished your work you may take it with you.

At Serlachius Museum Gösta you can make a graphic artwork of your own using a press and cola drink among others.

Graphics

Inspired by the artworks on show at the museum in this workshop you can design and print your own special artwork to take back home. The motif is first sketched on a paper and then transferred on the aluminium sheet. Phase by phase the sheet is prepared for the press and printed. Simultaneously we will also learn some basic information about making graphics. Beside the proper press, our supplies during the process consist of cola drink, among others.
