Kivettynyt metsä, The Petrified Forest

The Petrified Forest tells the stories from Mänttä in images and words as photographic artist Ville Lenkkeri remembers his home town. The book is connected to Lenkkeri’s eponymous exhibition held at Serlachius Museum Gösta in early winter 2014.

In Lenkkeri’s book, mental images and reality become one. Home town evokes contradictory feelings. He knows the town throbs vitality and strives for change. Yet in his pictures, time stands still and the factory chimney represents stagnation. The book has Finnish and English texts.
