For contemporary art enthusiasts, Serlachius Manor offers Eija-Liisa Ahtila’s new installation Reflection of the Forest, ROR ABC, and Nastja Säde Rönkkö’s salt in our blood, in our sweat, in our tears. At Serlachius Headquarters, Riiko Sakkinen’s Los moimoi de Fuengirola and exhibition Thank You Letters continue until 16 February.

Fans of older art will enjoy the gems of the art foundation in the exhibition Classic Works of Fine Art at Manor. History enthusiasts will be interested in the permanent exhibition Patrons exhibition at the Headquarters.

Enjoy the steam of the art sauna and the warmth of the hot tub

Serlachius Art Sauna pampers all senses. The winter nature and stunning architecture provide unforgettable settings for the sensory experience created by the hot sauna, plunge in the icy lake, and warm hot tub.

The Art Sauna is heated on Tuesdays from 1 pm to 7 pm. Book your session in advance, as the sauna accommodates a limited number of guests. Bring your own swimsuit, bench cover, and towel. The changing rooms are separate, but the actual sauna room is common.

A meal at Restaurant Gösta completes the art trip

Restaurant Gösta’s menu was renewed at the beginning of the year. Enjoy roasted venison fillet or fried pikeperch. Gösta’s burger is a guaranteed favourite! Vegetarian and vegan options are always available.

An affordable weekday lunch is available from Tuesday to Friday from 11 am to 2 pm. You can choose a hearty salad (€ 12.50) or lunch (€ 13.50).

The restaurant located at Serlachius Manor also offers coffee and refreshments with fresh pastries. Restaurant Gösta is open on all museum opening days from 11 am to 5 pm (kitchen until 4:30 pm).

Family day on sun 23 Feb and children’s Saturday on 1 Mar

The programme for Serlachius’ Family Day on Sunday, February 23, from 12 pm to 5 pm, is built around the classic works from the Serlachius’ art collection. In this family event, you can explore old master paintings and their stories by dressing up in costumes and creating your own portrait. Guided family tours at Serlachius Manor (in Finnish) on Sun 23 Feb at 1 pm and 3 pm.

On Children’s Saturday, 1 March, from 2 pm to 4 pm, at Serlachius Headquarters, you can paint your own forest landscape where trees and flowers come to life. Come under supervision of your own adult at a time that suits you!

The winter art camp on 25–26 February offers fun activities for children aged 7–12 during the winter holiday. The camp is conducted as a day camp at Serlachius Manor, led by Kirsimaria Törönen.

Information about nature and history on the Forest Trail

Come for a walk on the forest trail in Taavetti Island! Along the approximately half-kilometer trail, there are ten checkpoints with forest and history-themed tasks that illustrate the importance of the forest and nature to all of us.

You can visit the forest trail freely at any time. Answer sheets are available during museum opening hours (Tue–Sun 11 am–6 pm) at the museum ticket office. You can also complete the forest trail tasks on-site or even in your local forest using your mobile device! Access the tasks directly via the link (in Finnish).

Stay overnight – explore accommodation options

The art offerings of Mänttä-Vilppula and the beautiful nature of Finnish Lakeland provide excellent settings for an overnight visit. Explore the accommodation options in the area and choose, for example, a factory-owner-style hotel accommodation, an overnight stay on an organic farm, or a holiday cottage in the wider neighbourhood.

Train & Taxi to Serlachius on Tuesdays and Saturdays

Come to Serlachius by public transport! The product includes a shared taxi ride from Vilppula railway station to the museum and back, admission to all our exhibitions, and on Tuesdays, a ticket to the public sauna day of the Art Sauna. Please note that the product does not include train tickets on Finnish Rail. You can purchase them from the VR website.
