Kesäpäiviä – Summer Days

Kesäpäiviä esittelee kahdeksan pohjoismaista taidemaalaria, jotka edustavat eri sukupolvia ja erilaisia lähestymistapoja taiteen tekemiseen. Taiteilijoita yhdistää värin ja valon ohella maisema suoraan tai viitteellisesti esitettynä. Keskeistä heille on myös pohjoisten leveysasteiden ihmisille niin tärkeä kesä – joko jatkuvan kaipauksen kohteena, muistona tai vertauskuvana, joka viittaa johonkin vahvasti elettyyn ja menetettyyn. Kirjan on kirjoittanut taidekriitikko ja kuraattori Timo Valjakka.

Summer Days presents eight Nordic artists who at the same time represent different generations and different approaches to making art. The artists are united not only by colour and light but also by landscape, presented either directly or referentially. So important to the people of northern latitudes, summer appears either as the subject of continual longing or as a memory, a metaphor, that refers to something deeply felt and lost long ago. The author of the book is art critic Timo Valjakka. He curated the exhibition Kesäpäivä, Summer Days at the Serlachius Museum Gösta.
