Viljami Heinonen
Somewhere in Between
Serlachius Headquarters 13.9.2025—30.8.2026
Viljami Heinonen (b. 1986) is known for his powerfully expressive paintings, which almost make one feel breathless on looking at them. Heinonen’s new paintings take the viewer into a fading urban milieu, where people encounter not only themselves but also other people bruised by the knocks and bumps of life. The artist is inspired by desolate landscapes and abandoned places. As is typical of Heinonen, nature is also strongly present in his works.
Heinonen graduated from Kankaanpää Art School in 2012, after which he has had numerous solo gallery exhibitions, for example in Helsinki and Turku. The Serlachius Headquarters exhibition is the artist’s first solo exhibition at the museum. The exhibition is curated by Eeva Ilveskoski.
