How were the Pyramids Built?
Harry Kivijärvi
How were the pyramids built? How did ancient peoples manage to build colossal stone structures using primitive technology? The sculptor Harry Kivijärvi (1931–2010) offers us an artist’s view of this question. He delved deep into the traditions of stone working on numerous journeys and participated in the work of archaeologists. This volume is a new edition of a classic work that reveals the secrets of the ancient monuments in Kivijärvi’s own words and pictures.
How Were the Pyramids Built? was originally published in Finnish by Otava Publishing Company Ltd in 1990 under the title Miten pyramidit rakennettiin? The present volume consists of an English translation of the original text with minor adjustments together with a new introduction, also in English. The exhibition Time of Stone at Serlachius Museums Gösta gave rise to this new edition of the book.
