Sculptor Jussi Mäntynen’s animal pieces

Gösta Serlachius became acquainted with Jussi Mäntynen during his successful exhibition in Stockholm in 1934. Mäntynen was already then a renowned sculptor. He had created public pieces and a publication of his oeuvre was published at an exceptionally early stage of his career.

At that time, Gösta Serlachius on the other hand, had established a unique art collection and a Fine Arts Foundation who was planning to build an art museum in Mänttä. The close friendship and cooperation continued multifaceted until the death of Serlachius.

The publication was published in connection to Gösta Serlachius Art museum’s exhibition on Jussi Mäntynen’s animal sculputures in 1995.
