Morning Coffee on the Roof of a Town
Works from Serlachius' collections of contemporary art
Art Museum Gösta 5.11.2022—16.4.2023
The exhibition presents the Gösta Serlachius Fine Arts Foundation’s collection of contemporary art from the period 2010–2020. During this time, the general culture of discussion has been marked by escalation and polarisation. Does contemporary art also proclaim the topical content of news headlines from its own bubble, or do we use art to take a step below the surface in understanding unfamiliar perspectives? One may also ask whether it is even worth harnessing fine art to express clear positions, or can art also be something difficult to define – describing something hard to put into words?
The Gösta Serlachius Fine Arts Foundation began to collect contemporary art in the early 2010s. Currently, the collection consists of nearly 300 works, of which 60 are on display. The exhibition is curated by Laura Kuurne.
