Janne Räisänen

Visual artist Janne Räisänen will organise a pop-up studio exhibition at his studio at the Serlachius Residence on Sat–Sun 12–13 September from 12 noon to 6 pm.

Janne Räisänen is an artist from Pudasjärvi, currently living in Berlin. He graduated with a Master of Fine Arts degree from the Finnish Academy of Fine Arts in 1998.

His painting technique is interesting. He starts by drawing with graphite and various pencils on raw cotton fabric. He then primes the canvas with glue and colored inks. When the primer is thick enough, he continues to work with oil paints.

“In the beginning, the line is abstract, but the subjects start to grow more figurative through the gaze and instinct. My works are full of surprises and I never plan them. That way, the mystery of the paintings remains until the end,” Janne Räisänen says.

The opening of the exhibition will be celebrated on Friday 11 September from 4 pm to 6 pm. Admission to the opening and the exhibition is free. Welcome!
