Markus Luiro: Emptiness – an exercise

Serlachius Residency, Wed–Sun 21–25 October, 12 noon–6 pm

Markus Luiro, who is currently working at the residency, is presenting an exhibition of his charcoal drawings in the residency gallery.

During his residency, he has focused particularly on landscapes and spaces, which he describes as mental images or states of mind rather than recognisable landscapes.

‘The exhibition is the beginning of a process that is still unfinished. It began when I grew tired of depicting the human figure. I wanted to try something different.’

‘Every now and then, places I have seen stay in my mind. Perhaps I pass by or through them often enough, or something else catches my attention. They are probably associated with a feeling or a memory,’ he says.

The exhibition opening will take place on Friday, 23 October, from 4 to 6 pm, in conjunction with Friday Coffee.

Admission to the exhibition and the opening is free. Welcome!
