GUEST RESIDENCY MAINTAINED BY THE FINE ARTS FOUNDATIONSerlachius Residency is an international artist residency that annually hosts about twenty artists or other professionals working in the field of visual arts from all over the world. We are an active part of the local community in Mänttä.

Serlachius Residence’s Friday coffee is held once a month. At the small-scale event, the residency guests introduce themselves and talk about their work.

In addition to Friday coffee, the residency regularly hosts exhibitions, workshops and other communal events. Admission to all events is free.

Time for your own work

Serlachius Residency in Mänttä, maintained by the Gösta Serlachius Fine Arts Foundation, offers a unique working and recidential environment for professionals in the field of visual arts. In addition to artists, the residency is also aimed at curators, researchers, art critics and museum professionals.

We offer a free accommodation and work spaces, as well as the opportunity to use the gallery space to present projects.

The residency was established in 2015 in cooperation with the Mänttä Art Festival. Its goal is to support the diverse development of the visual arts and international interaction.

Sustainability is an important value for us. The residency’s operations and its development from a sustainability perspective are regularly audited as part of Serlachius’ ISO 14001 environmental management system.

APPLICATION FOR SERLACHIUS RESIDENCY

Applications for the residency are submitted annually during February–March using an electronic form. The selections are made by a jury consisting of a representative of the Serlachius and Mänttä Art Festivals and a rotating artist member.

The application period for the 2027 residencies is open from 1 February to 31 March 2026.

WORKING AND ACCOMMODATION

In a small town, you can focus on your own work in peace. The residency also hosts small events, art exhibitions, artist meetings and workshops. As a resident of the residency, you will be able to explore Serlachius’ art and cultural history collections.
