Riikka Lenkkerin maalaama maalaus kahdesta naisesta nukkumassa lähekkäin

Riikka Lenkkeri’s paintings

Artist Riikka Lenkkeri’s exhibition opens up a view of Finnish bedrooms in the early hours of the morning.

Full-body portraits of bodies pressed into their soft beds show our everyday body language, which at the same time remains hidden from public view.

Today, we document our lives by posing and showing our best sides in photos. The everyday situations and ordinary people in Lenkkeri’s paintings are depicted from perspectives that we are used to avoiding and being ashamed of.

Riikka Lenkkeri, who received her art education in Italy, combines the traditions of European art with contemporary themes in a unique way. She describes his models realistically, but at the same time acceptingly – this is who we humans are.
