Jiri Geller’s moment of joy that lasts forever

“I want to make art that looks better than reality – a moment of joy that lasts forever.” In addition to the classics of the sculptor’s career,

Jiri Geller’s retrospective exhibition features excerpts from two new series of works. The earliest work in the exhibition is God Says No. During these years, Geller’s gaze has focused on individual objects or situations that are based on an iconic thing or object, which he varies with different colours, patterns and moods.

Nothing is permanent, all things change their shape or their surfaces change their vision. Things and objects spill, erupt, explode or break.

The time of the image has stopped in a fraction of a second or covers the past, present and future. We live on myths and beliefs that we have created ourselves. Do we really dare to look at them and Jiri Geller’s interpretations of them? The curator of the exhibition is Maaretta Jaukkuri.
