You can borrow a fun Jopo bike by showing your ID. By bike, you can comfortably travel the distance of about three kilometers between the museums. The bike cannot be handed over to another person. You can return Jopo to either museum site during opening hours.

Enjoy a summery moment at Lake Melasjärvi and borrow a rowing boat and life jacket from Serlachius Manor. All you need is to show your ID. Return the boat during the museum’s opening hours.

WINE PARLOUR

In the basement of Gösta Serlachius’ representative home, there is an atmospheric wine parlour, where the industrialist used to entertain his friends by the fireplace. Artists were also asked to make permanent works of art there. The sturdy doors and furniture of the wine parlour have wood carvings by Hannes Autere. At the age of 16, Irina Bäcksbacka-de Maestro created the colourful stained-glass windows and murals in the basement. The metal decorations awere made by Atle Luotonen.

The wine house is open to all visitors during the museum’s opening hours. Surprise your group during the group tour and pre-order glasses of sparkling wine to the wine parlour! Please note that the stairs down to the wine room are narrow. Unfortunately, there is no barrier-free access to the historic space.

LOVE TRAIL

Move from one museum to another along the idyllic Love Trail! The Love Trail is a forested, narrow and sandy scenic passage along the lakeshore between Serlachius Manor and the center of Mänttä.

Originally, it was built as a riding trail between Mänttä Castle on the shore of the Mäntänkoski rapids and the lands of Joenniemi Manor. It got its gentle name in the 1930s thanks to the joint riding trips of Gösta Serlachius and Ester Toivonen, who was chosen as Miss Europe. There were rumours in the locality that the owner of the manor and the beautiful guest had had a love affair.

The distance from one museum to another along the Love Trail is about 2.5 kilometers. The trail has hollows, roots and other things that belong to the forest. The trail is suitable for children and cautious cyclists, but not for people with reduced mobility. No winter maintenance.

GOLDEN GAZEBO ON TAAVETTI ISLAND

The Golden Gazebo was originally built for Marita Liulia’s exhibition Golden Age (2016–17). After the exhibition closed, the gazebo was moved from the interior of the museum to Taavetinsaari.

 In the summer 2025, an artworkwill be on display in the gazebo as part of the Mänttä Art Festival programme. The door of the gazebo is open in the summer according to the museum’s opening hours, free admission. In winter, the door to the gazebo is locked.

MÄNTTÄ CHURCH

The inauguration ceremony of Mänttä Church was celebrated in 1928 as part of the 60th anniversary celebrations of G. A. Serlachius Ltd. The company had been responsible for the construction and costs of the church. 

The drawings of the church were designs by architect W. G. Palmqvist, and Gösta Serlachius himself was involved in the planning work, deciding on both the big lines and smaller details. The interior of the church is decorated with wooden reliefs by Hannes Autere and lighting fixtures by Taito Oy. On the altarpiece, Alvar Cawén immortalised a maiden from Mänttä surrounded by the sheep of Joenniemi Manor.  

Mänttä Church is open for groups by appointment, guided tours are also available. Reservations through Serlachius Sales Service.

Outerwear and bags larger than A4 page size are asked to be left at the coat racks. There are free, lockable lockers available (also for larger luggage). In this way, we ensure the safety of the works and prevent damage.

Unfortunately, pets are not allowed indoors or in the deck area of the Serlachius Art Sauna. Guide and assistance dogs are exceptions to this rule. In the summer, there are drinking bowls for dogs on the lawn of the summer café Autere Cottage (Serlachius Manor).

Both Serlachius Manor and Serlachius Headquarters have extensive, free parking areas as well as charging points for electric cars. Charging electric cars with contactless payment with a payment card.

Disabled parking spaces are located near the entrances: at Serlachius Manor in front of the historic manor building and at Serlachius Headquarters at the left end of the building.

Serlachius is a largely accessible site. We are committed to developing accessibility.

There is plenty to see in the art town of Mänttä-Vilppula for several days. There is a wide range of accommodation options available in hotels located in the town centre and by the lake as ell as in farms and guesthouses, rental cottages and apartment accommodation.
