Stiina Saaristo: Four Turning Points on an Artist’s Path

Stiina Saaristo’s retrospective Always Happy presents the artist’s exuberant and perceptive works. The exhibition features drawings, oil paintings, prints and ceramic sculptures from 1995–2025. Saaristo is known for her large and masterfully detailed drawings, which are characterised by macabre humour and the use of grotesque self-portraits.

At the artist meeting, Stiina Saaristo and the curator of the exhibition, Laura Kuurne, will introduce you to the exhibition. We will hear about the artist’s diverse career and its turning points. Participants will have the opportunity to ask questions and discuss. The event is carried in Finnish language.

Serlachius Art Sauna Talks: Forbidden Emotions

From the exhibition, we move across the park to the Serlachius Art Sauna. In the workshop, we will discuss the theme of forbidden emotions present in Stiina Saaristo’s work. Which emotions are allowed in our culture and for whom? How do forbidden emotions and internalised patterns guide life unconsciously? How can emotions be released in ways that enable more comprehensive self-expression?

The topic will first be discussed in a discussion between depth psychology expert Kaisa Kuurne and Stiina Saaristo, in which the public is welcome to participate. We also enjoyed afternoon coffee. After this, we dive deeper into our own mindscape through various exercises. Those who want to can share their thoughts. All sections are voluntary and you can participate in what you feel is useful for you.  The event is carried out in Finnish language.

Art sauna – an experience for all the senses

The discussions will continue on the benches of the award-winning Art Sauna – this time only among women. The warmth is enjoyed in the atmospheric, round steam room. The outdoor shower, which is in use all year round, is decorated with Tuula Lehtinen’s mosaic work Embrace. Sauna-goers also have access to a hot tub on the deck. You can take a dip and ice swim in the lake from the end of the pier. The art sauna is a licensed area, which means that it is not possible to enjoy your own drinks or snacks. Refreshments can be purchased from the art sauna
