Nastja Säde Rönkkö’s work acquired for the Serlachius Collection

The Gösta Serlachius Fine Arts Foundation has acquired Nastja Säde Rönkkö’s video installation Survival Guide for a Post-Apocalyptic Child (2022) for its collection. The work consists of 26 videos that deal with the uncertain future of humanity and how to survive crises.

The work was originally produced by the Lönnström Art Museum in the autumn of 2022. The work was reinstalled at the Helsinki City Museum HAM in the summer of 2024. Serlachius acquired the work because they wanted it to be preserved in his home country.

Nastja Säde Rönkkö is an important artist for Serlachius. She won the Below Zero 2023 contemporary art award, of which Serlachius is one of the organisers. During the six-week residency period related to the prize, Rönkkö created the video installation salt in our blood, in our sweat, in our tears in London, which was seen at Serlachius in the winter of 2024–2025.

Pauli Sivonen, the director of Serlachius, writes about Nastja Säde Rönkkö’s video installation acquired for the collection.
