Queer – Practising a Different Way of Looking

at 12:30 pm and 15:30 pm

What goes unnoticed when we view art only from familiar perspectives? The queer mini tour invites you to explore artworks in new ways: to question norms, open up alternative interpretations, and reflect on whose stories are being told – and why.

This short art moment in Classic Works of Fine Art offers insights into the diversity of gender and sexuality, as well as into a broader, queer way of looking: curious, open, and boundary‑breaking. The mini tour reveals new layers in the artworks and encourages you to see differently.

Included with museum admission. In Finnish, duration approx. 20 minutes. The tour is for everyone! No advance booking required.

Relax at Serlachius Art Sauna

The sauna will be heated from 1 pm to 7 pm

At the Art Sauna, bathing is unhurried and relaxed. Plenty of time is reserved for sauna bathing – a total of two hours – and you are free to return to the steam at your own pace, taking breaks as you wish. The Art Sauna offers swimming from the pier, a warm outdoor hot tub, and refreshments for sale. Visitors can also make Pride badges.

Two changing and washing rooms are available. The facilities are for everyone and are used with mutual respect. The shared sauna room is open to all bathers, and sauna bathing takes place in swimwear. Please note that the Art Sauna is not fully accessible.

The unisex toilets at Serlachius Art Sauna are marked by Intim interiör, a two‑part artwork by Noora Schroderus. The artist describes the work as follows:

“The artwork is suitable for all genders and internationally understandable. I wanted to realise it in a way that relates to the body, nudity and being in an intimate space.”

The letters of the work are plaster casts taken from the surface of human skin. They hint at intimate areas without being overly explicit. The forms are open to interpretation and do not impose ideas about which gender they represent.

“In my own thinking, the idea of bodily integrity has also been present – connected to tolerance and acceptance, and to enjoying one’s own body,” Schroderus says.
