An inspiring environment for art lovers

Experience multidisciplinary art and the stories it tells within an immersive setting! The exhibition  Classic Works of Fine Art at the Manor takes you on a journey through the world of Finland’s Golden Age masters and older European art. For lovers of contemporary art, highlights include Stiina Saaristo’s delightful retrospective Always Happy, Milja Viita’s film installation People on a Sunday, and Agnes Meyer-Brandis’s As Trees Go By

At Serlachius Headquarters, you can explore the Patrons exhibition, which sheds light on the history of the Serlachius family, Mänttä, and the Finnish paper industry, Viljami Heinonen’s Somewhere in Between as well as Measured and Drawn, which presents buildings from Mänttä.

Enjoy the steam of the Art Sauna and take a dip in the icy lake  

Serlachius Art Sauna pampers all the senses. The winter nature and magnificent architecture offer an unforgettable setting for a sensory experience in a hot sauna, a cold ice swim and a warm bubble tub. The art sauna is heated on Tuesdays from 1 pm to 7 pm. Book your own two-hour Sauna Day online! Bring a swimsuit, bench cover and towel. Art sauna tickets 14/10,50/0 €. A meal at restaurant Gösta completes your art visit 

Restaurant Gösta’s menu was renewed at the beginning of the year. Enjoy, for example, roasted venison loin or pan-fried pike-perch. Gösta’s burger is always a guaranteed favourite! There are also vegetarian and vegan options available at all times. 

An affordable weekday lunch is served from Tuesday to Friday between 11 am and 2 pm. You can choose a hearty salad (€13.50) or the lunch of the day (€14). 

Located at Serlachius Manor, the restaurant also offers coffee and refreshments accompanied by freshly baked pastries. Restaurant Gösta is open on all museum opening days from 11 am to 5 pm (kitchen until 4.30 pm).

Family day on Sun 22 February at the Serlachius Headquarters 

This year’s Serlachius Family Day programme on Sunday 22 February from 12 noon to 5 pm is built around Viljami Heinonen’s colourful exhibition. The artist himself will lead an energetic Interrupted Stories workshop from 2 pm to 4 pm. A lively family tour of Heinonen’s exhibition will take place from 1 pm to 1.45 pm. Welcome to join in!

Winter art camp for children aged 7–12, 24–25 February 

At the art camp organised in collaboration between Serlachius and Autere-opisto, children will explore a variety of art techniques and visit the exhibitions. The camp takes place from Tuesday to Wednesday, 9 am to 3 pm. The instructor is Kirsimaria Törönen, together with Serlachius’s museum educator. 

The course fee of €70 includes instruction and lunches. Registrations are made through the Autere-opisto office, tel. +358 50 346 4455.

Train & Taxi service to Serlachius on Tuesdays and Saturdays 

Travel to Serlachius by public transport! The package includes a shared taxi transfer from Vilppula railway station to the museum and back, admission to all our exhibitions, and on Tuesdays a ticket to the public Art Sauna session. Please note that the package does not include VR train tickets. These can be purchased from VR’s online shop.
