Life in Mänttä in Photographs

A photo is worth a thousand words, but now those words are needed too! Serlachius photograph collection continues to accrues mainly through donations. In recent years, photographs taken by Ahti Keskinen, among others have been added to the collection. They describe life and events in Mänttä and within the Serlachius company.

In order to record local cultural history, it is important to know who has been photographed, where and what is happening in the photo – to collect the local history included in the photographs in our database, we are now asking the public for help. So come and see the photos presented by curator Katri Tolonen and share your knowledge!

Entrance ticket: €10.50 per person includes the programme and afternoon coffee. The programme is presented in Finnish language by the museum staff.

Autere College course

The identification of old photographs can be continued on the Autere College’s course 30 Sep–25 Nov 2025. The group meets at Koskela Secondary School on Tuesdays at 5–6.30 pm under the leadership of Katri Tolonen.

The photographs are mainly from the Serlachius collections and the city of Mänttä-Vilppula. On the last two occasions, participants can also bring pictures from their own home albums to view. The course meets every other week. The programme is in Finnish language.

Registration for the course is submittted through the Autere College’s system. The course fee is €20.
