A croquis drawing evening will be held at Serlachius Residency on Thursday, 29 October, from 5 to 7 pm. The session will be led by artist, visual arts teacher and Executive Director of Mänttä Art Festival Sampsa Virkajärvi. 

Croquis is a form of rapid sketching from a live model. The aim is not to produce a detailed or finished drawing, but to capture the model’s pose, movement, proportions and overall character quickly. 

In art schools, croquis is a traditional exercise that develops the artist’s ability to observe human anatomy, shifts in weight and movement. 

The first croquis drawing evening at Serlachius Residency was held in spring 2026.
