Maa

His first exhibition in Finland is organized as a survey of his figurative sculpture which can be experienced in conjunction with a role-playing game, created especially for the exhibition, which delves into the post-apocalyptic narrative from which the sculptures spring.

Matthew Day Jackson (b. 1974) is an American artist whose multifaceted practice includes sculpture, painting, collage, photography, drawing, video, performance and installation.

Jackson's figurative sculpture blends worlds both familiar and strange through the highly idiosyncratic use of seemingly disparate materials. The game will use the creaturely familiarity of Jackson's work as a beginning point to consider a post-apocalyptic earth thousands of years in the future culminating with a trip to the Moon as the end point. The curator of the exhibition is Timo Valjakka.
